The Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Cooperation & External Trade's work is vital in fostering positive engagement with the international community and increasing market access for Vanuatu’s international trade. We treasure our indigenous Melanesian Heritage and respect the cultural diversity of our country and in turn uphold and promote the principles of Transparency, Integrity, Accountability, Equity, Fairness and Rule of Law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade (MFAICET) has four (4) core objectives as outlined in our corporate plan. These include:

1. To have an ethical, professional, responsive and high performing foreign service that includes providing efficient diplomatic protocol and consular services.

2. To effectively manage Vanuatu’s foreign relations that underpins Vanuatu’s development agenda.

3. To manage Vanuatu’s unresolved Maritime Boundaries, sovereign territorial disputes and the National Oceans Governance Framework.

4. To negotiate trade agreements and market access for Vanuatu goods and services, and promote specialization in areas of competitive advantage.
