On 23 September 2025, three outstanding students from Vanuatu were officially awarded certificates of scholarship by the Government of Serbia, marking a significant step in strengthening educational and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The certificates were presented following a Political Dialogue held on the same day, by Ambassador Mr. Damjan Jovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Co-chair), and His Excellency Mr. Rade Stefanovic, Serbian Ambassador to the Republic of Vanuatu.
The recipients of the scholarships are Lysiane Bougnaim and Rosemonde Malbeal, both students at Lycée Louis Antoine de Bougainville, and Angelique Mulonturala from Lycée de Montmartre. These scholarships will enable the students to pursue further education opportunities supported by Serbia.
The number of scholarships awarded to Vanuatu students is expected to increase in the coming years, reflecting Serbia’s growing commitment to fostering educational development in Vanuatu. This initiative complements Serbia’s ongoing support in various sectors including Energy and Tourism.
The Government of Vanuatu would also like to acknowledge the dedicated efforts of the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade, as well as the Ministry of Education and Training, for their invaluable roles in facilitating this partnership and supporting the scholarship program.
Serbia’s investment in education through these scholarships exemplifies its dedication to building strong, long-lasting relationships with Vanuatu by empowering the next generation of leaders.
