Minister Ati is Hosting the 11th Heads of Missions Conference in Port Vila, on the 19-21 August 2025.

 

The Honorable Marc Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and External Trade of the Republic of Vanuatu will convene the 11th Heads of Missions (HoM) conference meeting in Port Vila from 19 to 21 August 2025. The government established Missions overseas, which include High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives, and Consul Generals, all who will congregate in Port Vila at the Warwick Le Lagoon resort.

 

As the Ministry responsible of Vanuatu foreign service policy that guard its independent, and as a sovereign nation which navigate its journey through the world. It is critical of our expression of who we are as a people and shapes how others see us. Hence, Vanuatu representatives overseas is an essential responsibility of the government, which promotes our diplomatic relationships and supports of its international engagement. The Missions plays a vital role in supporting the government policies such as the ongoing   implementation of the National Sustainable Development Plan , the Climate Diplomacy and the recent Advisory Opinion by the International Court of Justice on Climate Change, resource mobilization for economic development and recovery from the 17th December 2024 earthquake and defining Vanuatu’s national sovereignty, our national development, our national security, and the expression of our national identity in their respective jurisdiction.

 

It will be an intensive three-day conference discussion under the theme of “A Dynamic Foreign Service that Promotes, Safeguards, and Delivers National Development Priorities,” this significant gathering will bring together Vanuatu’s Heads of Missions stationed abroad and the government ministries to align Vanuatu diplomatic efforts with national goals.

 

During the three-day meeting, the Heads of Missions will engage in high-level briefings on the Government’s current policy priorities. These discussions will ensure that Vanuatu’s diplomatic Missions are well resourced to advance the national interests abroad.

 

The meeting will also provide a platform to reflect on the implementation of the 10th HoMs and   address 2024-2025 achievements, challenges and explore opportunities for strengthening Vanuatu’s foreign service and development aspiration. Key sessions will focus on enhancing the quality and impact of diplomatic initiatives, fostering sustainable growth, and reinforcing Vanuatu’s role in international development cooperation and engagement.

 

“The 11th Heads of Missions is a pivotal moment for our diplomatic network to align with Vanuatu’s vision for resilience, prosperity, and global engagement. We look forward to a robust discussion that will shape a dynamic and effective foreign service for Vanuatu” said Minister Marc Ati. 

 

The Minister is looking forward to meeting the Heads of Missions next week and is hoping for a fruitful discussion in this engagement.
